[Class 83 (iv).] The shaft 15 of a rolling mill is driven from a shaft 8 through a change gear box 1 and reduction gearing 12, 13, flywheels 14, 14<1> being located on the high speed shaft between the change gear box 1 and the reduction gear 12, 13 so that the flywheels are of the minimum weight. The change gear box 1 has a double sliding dog clutch 6 to select either the gears 2, 3 or 4 and 5 to transmit the drive 10 in a resilient clutch.
