[Classes 8 (i) and 102 (i).] A valve for a rotary compressor, engine, or pump comprises a cylindrical body k containing a piston valve m which abuts on an angularly adjustable disc valve n having a pair of opposite segmental ports p, q, communicating with the engine or pump cylinders and with supply and exhaust ports t, u in the piston valve. The disc valve is adjusted by a handle x ; a slipper block w free to slide in the admission port p enables the cut-off to be adjusted according to the direction of rotation. The engine &c. may be of the kind described in Specification 337,351, [Class 102 (i)], embodying rotor blocks at right angles and angular pistons g.
