411,036. Cycle brakes. SLADE, R. G., 636, Harrow Road, Queen's Park, London. Nov. 23, 1933, No. 32721. [Class 136 (i).] In a rim brake for cycles &c. a horizontal movement against the side of the wheel rim is imparted to the brake blocks, which are carried by slide members reciprocated by cams actuated by levers, links &c. connected to the transmission cable, rod &c. A yoke or support 2 is adjustably attached by means of slots 5 and bolts 6 to a plate 3 clipped &c. to the cycle frame 1, and is provided with a lug 7 fitted with a sleeve 8, in which is mounted a plunger 9 actuated by a cable &c. 10, the plunger 9 being provided with lugs or arms 11, 11<a> to which are pivoted links 12. The links 12 are pivoted to lugs 19 on cam members 17 pivoted at 17<1> and formed with arcuate slots 17<a> engaging screws or studs 18, which pass through slots in the front faces of guide blocks 16 on the yoke 2 and screw into holes (of which there may be several for adjustment purposes) in rods 15, which slide in the blocks 16 and adjustably carry holders 14 for the brake blocks 13. The sleeve 8 is adapted to rock slightly about its point of abutment with the lug 7, thereby providing a compensating- means if the wheel is not true.
