Abstract

410,924. Washing-machines. CHARLSON, E., 180, Crompton Way, Bolton. Feb. 8, 1933, No. 3795. [Class 138 (ii).] The agitator C is provided with an elongated sleeve c<1> and a non-circular aperture in its head c<2> fitted on the correspondingly shaped end of a shaft B which is oscillated within an elongated sleeve H secured to the bottom a of the washtub and extending above the normal liquid level. The bearings and driving arrangements of the shaft are not secured directly to the tub bottom but are carried by the central portion of an X-frame E formed from inverted channel section metal, the ends of the X-frame being welded to the angle-section legs of the stand for the tub and riveted or otherwise secured to the tub bottom. The driving gear comprises a bevel wheel K on the shaft B meshing with a quadrant M on a horizontal shaft G which is oscillated manually or from an electric motor.
