Abstract

463,480. Washing-machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., WILLIAMS, G. A., and MACKAY, K. M. Sept. 30, 1935, No. 26978. [Class 138 (ii)] A washing - machine unit comprises a tub 1 wherein an agitator is oscillated from a motor 5 through transmission gear contained in a casing 7. The tub, motor and gear casing form an integral structure which can be placed bodily within or removed from a cabinet 17, the tub being provided with a flange 3 which rests upon the tops of the walls of the cabinet. A table cover 10 may be placed over the whole. The control handles 15 for the washer and the pump 33 and drain tube 31 are also carried by the unit. A vertical drive shaft for a wringer 21 removably positioned along one side of the top of the tub is housed in a casing 23 carried by the unit, an aperture 25 being provided in the flange 3 to give access thereto. When the wringer is not in use it is housed in a cupboard 29 provided by the lower part of the cabinet. The upper end of the drain tube 31 projects into the tub, and when the tub is to be drained a length of tubing is connected thereto.
