[Class 138 (ii)] The washing tub 26, Fig. 1, which contains a removable spider 34 having paddle vanes 33, and of which the cover is provided with downwardly-projecting stirrers 36 is secured to an annular turntable 19 which is oscillated on a ball race 18 about a vertical axis by a connecting- rod 60 and crank 59 driven by an electric motor 48 through reduction gear contained in a gearbox 50 and a clutch controlled by a rod 66 operated manually by a knob 68. The spider is provided with forked ends engaging driving lugs 35 secured to the inside walls of the tub. The shaft of the lower roller is coupled to a horizontal shaft carried in the head 73 and provided with sliding bevels - operated by a handle 143 whereby the wringer may be operated in forward or reverse directions or be held stationary. The connecting-rod 60 is coupled to the turntable 19 through a bridge member 63 and springs 64, and in a modification, Fig. 11, the connection is through a rocking lever 179 pivoted at 180 to the turntable and provided with cushioning devices 183. The stand for supporting the apparatus is provided with a removable support for holding a rinsing bath 75, Fig. 2, which when the wringer is folded down to inoperative position may be used as a cover for the machine. The stand comprises bearers 77 resting at one end in projections 81 on the machine stand and pivoted at the other end to legs 80. When the support is not in use it may be folded and hooked on to the projections 81 and other projections 84.
