Abstract

410,183. Sound - - reproducing devices. CAMPBELL, R. B., 3940, West 10th Avenue, Vancouver, Canada. Nov. 12, 1932, No. 32078. [Class 40 (iv).] Sound-reproducing apparatus comprises a diaphragm 1 connected centrally to vibrating means, such as a moving coil 6, and connected at its periphery to a rigid ring 2 gradually increasing in depth outwardly and such that its side walls do not lie substantially beyond the planes of the side surfaces of the diaphragm. The ring is preferably double convex in crosssection and may be formed integrally with the diaphragm. It is rigidly supported by arms 8, and the diameter of its outer periphery is preferably three times the diameter of the ring. The coil 6 is preferably mounted on a cone 4 rigidly attached at its apex to the centre of the diaphragm 1 which preferably decreases in thickness outwardly from its centre. The diaphragm may be of papier-mÔchÚ, metal or porcelain.
