Dec. 23, 1935, No. 35579. Convention date, March 23. [Class 13] [See also Groups XXXIX and XL] A sound-reproducing device comprises a sound cavity having a flat rear wall provided with an opening through which sound waves are radiated by a sound-reproducing device disposed behind the rear wall and a deflector within the cavity having a pair of substantially plane surfaces angularly arranged with their adjoining edges extending transversely of the opening in the rear wall. As shown in Figs. 2, 4 the cavity has side walls 15 converging in a rearward direction, an upper wall 16 which slopes downwardly and the rear wall 14, on which the cone 21 of the sound reproducing device 20 is mounted, sloping inwardly. The dihedral angle included between the surfaces 23, 23 which form the deflector, and which may be adjustable, may vary from 60‹ to 120‹ and is preferably about 75‹. The walls and deflector members are arranged so that none of the passages through which the sound is propagated has parallel surfaces or opposed parallel edges. The open end of the cavity may be covered by a loosely woven screen or tapestry.
