[Class 52 (v).] PortiÞre rods of the kind pivoted to a bracket on the door frame and supported by an arm attached to the door are formed as channels 1 to provide a longitudinal slot 4 which is engaged detachably or movably by means associated with the supporting arm 18, whereby the position of the point of connection between the arm and the rod can be varied. As applied to a rising portiÞre rod the channel 1 is provided at one end with a bracket 5 having top and bottom flanges 6, 7 and a side flange 8 which is pushed into the end of the channel to engage behind the edges 2, 3 and is fixed by a screw 9 which bears against the back of the channel or against an ornamental end piece 10. The flanges 6, 7 have holes to engage over a pivot pin 17 on a bracket 15 pivoted at 16 to a plate 13 fixed to the door frame. A stop 14 on the plate 13 limits rotation of the bracket 15 about the horizontal axis 16. The supporting arm 18 is rotatably mounted in a bracket 23 fixed to the door and carries pivotally at its upper end a member 25, Fig. 6, the ends 26 of which are adapted to engage in the channel 1 and be expanded by a screw 28 to clamp it in any position in the channel. The stop 14 on the plate 13 may be replaced by screws inserted into holes in the plate which screws may also form the fixing screws for the plate. Such holes may be provided at each side of the plate 13 to adapt it for right- and left-hand doors. Hooks 31 for the curtain have clip portions 32 engaging the rod 1. The stop 14 keeps the rod. 1 in a horizontal position when the door is closed. Fig. 7 shows a rod which swings horizontally, the arm 29 being fixed to the door and carrying rotatably a grooved roller 30 engaging the upper edge 2 of the slot in the channel 1.
