409,082. Ferry boats. THORNYCROFT & CO., Ltd., J. I., Smith Square, London, and BARNABY, K. C., Woolston Works, Southampton. Jan. 3, 1933, No. 162. [Class 113 (ii).] A double-ended ferry boat is provided at each end with an open tunnel 2 which dies away in the direction of, but does not extend to the midship section of the boat. A partly-immersed screw propeller 3 is located in each tunnel and is driven directly or indirectly from the propelling-engine 5. A pair of tunnels of similar construction each with a propeller shaft may be provided at each end and each propeller shaft may carry tandem propellers.
