[Class 131.] Apparatus for supplying hot air, steam, and/or other vapour to perforated hair-waving mandrels comprises a boiler and an air heater and blower connected to a heated mixing vessel containing a bottle adapted to receive vaporizable material, the vessel being provided with outlet nozzles to which the mandrels are connected. The mixing vessel 23, Fig. 1, is supplied with steam from the boiler through a steam pipe 35, 35<1> surrounded by an air jacket 22, 22<1>, steam being admitted also to the upper part of the vessel through a pipe 47 connected to the upper end of the steam pipe 35. The vessel 23 is provided with a perforated basket 48 containing a glass or metal bottle 24 in which is placed chemical material to be vaporized by the steam or hot air. The bottle 24 is provided with an outlet pipe opening into the vessel 23 at 54 and is supplied with hot air from the jacket 22 through a pipe 52 which may be connected through a valve 53 with the steam pipe 47. The boiler and vessel 23 are heated by electric or other heaters. The air blower 25, Fig. 5, is provided with an electric heater in the delivery pipe 40 which is surrounded by an air preheater 26 and is connected to the air jacket 22 by a pipe 42. The air preheater 26 is connected to the intake 44 of the blower and is provided with air inlet apertures 57 and with a valve controlled conduit 43 connected to the lower end of the air jacket 22. The vessel 23 is provided with a plurality of nozzles 46 to which the perforated mandrels are connected, and may be used to superheat the steam and the vapours from the vessel 24 or may be supplied with water or other liquid, e.g. oil, and used as a vaporizer.
