408,159. Centrifugal pumps. MASCHINENFABRIK A. D. SIHL AKT.- GES. VORM. A. SCHMID, 138, Sihlfeldstrasse, Zurich, Switzerland. Oct. 13, 1933, No. 28348. Convention date, Sept. 20. [Class 110 (i).] Knives 2b, which coact with the impeller R to sever extraneous rags, are mounted in spiral grooves 1 formed in the wall S2 on suction side of the pump. The depth of the grooves 1 is decreased by steps from the suction S1 to the discharge. The knives have a cylindrical wall 2c flush with the suction S1 and a surface 2 flush with the conical wall S2. They are held in wedge-shaped grooves by screws and the space above the screw head is filled with solder 4.
