408,005. Musical instruments. CLOETENS, G., 36, Rue de la Regence, Brussels. Sept. 29, 1932, No. 1000/34. Convention date, Sept. 30, 1931. Divided on 408,000. [Class 88 (ii).] In percussive instruments such as pianofortes, celestas, &c., wherein, in order to imitate other instruments, auxiliary hammers are interposable between the main hammers 4 and the strings &c. 3, the auxiliary hammers are constructed as hollow cylinders 2 of metal, ebonite, wood fibre or the like, with extensions 6, 6<1> by which they are secured to felt or like supports 5 on a member 8 movable to allow the hammers 4 to strike either the cylindrical parts 2 or the flat parts 6. A celeste strip 7 may also be interposed. Specifications 235,078, [Class 88 (ii)], and 408,000 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also an auxiliary hammer mounted on a steel strip in lieu of felt 5 in a grand piano, states that the invention is applicable to instruments plucked by jacks, plectra, or the fingers, and refers to Specifications 25113/96, 29336/96, 29402/96, and 9819/06, [all in Class 88]. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 235,078, [Class 88 (ii)].
