Abstract

Pianoforte keyboards; cases; actions.-In pianofortes having the keyboard with its trusses detachable and having means to hold the hammers up to the strings during attachment. or detachment of the keyboard, a horizontal rail m hinged to the hammer rest rail n is swung up as shown to hold the hammers k to the strings, and the keyboard is secured by bolts passing through coinciding plates p respectively on the keyboard cheeks and on the inside of the end walls of the case. The extensions c of the key-bed rest on the tops of the end uprights f, through which also pass bolts e on the trusses. The tops of the end uprights f are connected under the keyboard by a bar which serves to lift the body of the piano after removal of the keyboard.
