Abstract
407,902. R÷ntgen-ray apparatus. MULLER AKT.-GES., C. H. F., 24, Rontgenstrasse, Hamburg, Germany. Nov. 30, 1933, No. 33648. Convention date, Dec. 1, 1932. [Class 98 (i).] A hood for a R÷ntgen-ray tube of bent shape has for the insertion of the tube in the direction of the neck surrounding the highvoltage electrode a slit for guiding the bent neck-portion, the slit being closed by a wall portion slipped over the bent neck portion. As shown, the R÷ntgen-ray tube 1 has two neck-portions 2, 3 at right angles. The wall portion 4 surrounding the electrodes is of metal and is sealed to a glass window 5. The hood 6, which may be of metal or of insulating material provided with a conducting covering, has a lower portion 17, Fig. 3, furnished with a slit 18 to guide the neck portion 3, the slit being closed by a portion 19 connected to a tubular extension 20 surrounding the neck 3. The body of the R÷ntgen-ray tube is surrounded by a hollow body 7, Fig. 1, of insulating material divided into two portions, and by an insulating cylinder 8 traversing the protective hood over its whole length and provided with ventilation holes 9, 10. A lead layer 11 may be interposed between the wall of the hood and the cylinder 8, and a lead layer 12 may surround the neck portion 3. As shown in Fig. 3, the lower end 17 of the hood is closed by an annular member 21 adapted to receive a filter, and having a forked supporting member 22 to support the bent neck of the tube.
