Abstract

617,216. X-ray tubes. VAREY, J. E. Aug. 14, 1946, No. 24203. Convention date, June 2, 1943. [Class 39 (i)] The cooling system for an X-ray tube assembly rotatively mounted between the extremities of two high tension cables 15, comprises a shell 1 surrounding the X-ray tube 4 and filled with insulating oil, an open-ended sleeve 16 around the shell 1 at the anticathode end connected via apertures with a hollow collar 22 rotatively mounted on the sleeve and in communication at uplet 23 with the blower, and at the other end a further sleeve 17 with one open end towards sleeve 16 and apertured at 25. The shell 1 is formed on one side with a radiation window 10 and on the other side with a bladder containing hood 12. The cable ends are connected to the resilient supports 7, 8 of the tube. The air flow may be canalised by means of a second casing concentric with the shell 1-and supported by sleeves 16, 17. The shell 1 may have a ribbed surface and may be supported in the collars of a pivoting fork which may be suspended or slidable on a displaceable column. The edges of the sleeves 16, 17 may fit into the collars of such a fork. Specification 551,895 is referred to.
