407,740. Knitting. MILLS, R. K., 3, Edwards Lane, Sherwood, Nottingham. Sept. 29, 1932, No. 27047. [Class 74 (ii).] For producing antiladdering effects in knitted fabrics warp yarns 10 are passed around associated independent needles by a simple rectilinear out-and-back movement of guides 13 across the needle line. Guides of springy, strip material, offset laterally, slide and/or reciprocate in a bed 14 that lies in front of the needles or outside the needle circle. They may be deflected by the associated needles. If the movement is in a plane oblique to that in which the needle lies and offset therefrom as shown in Fig. 11 deflection may not be necessary. It may be desirable in this case to feed the ground yarn 15 prior to laying the wale yarns 10.
