Abstract

407,577. Radiators for aircraft and motor vehicles. HEPWORTH, F., Summerfield, Waterloo Road, South Yardley, Birming- ham. June 13, 1933, No. 16813. [Class 29.] An air-cooled oil cooler for aero-engines &c. comprises concentrically or eccentrically arranged tubes forming annular oil passages 1, 2 connected in series through a port in a spacing member 9 and having segmental rings 14 for imposing a transverse to and fro motion on the oil. The oil enters and leaves the cooler through tubes 17, and the air flows through the centre tube and the space between the oil passages. The tubes may be of rectangular or elliptical cross-section and their number varied. Further, the outer tube may be provided with longitudinal fins.
