407,443. Vacuum-jacketed vessels. LUNT, W. R. F., 339, Smith Street, Durban, South Africa. Nov. 1, 1932, Nos. 30703 /32 and 9961/33. [Class 29.] A vacuum-jacketed container for milk &c. comprises two conical metal shells 1, 2 connected at the necks by a conical ring 9 of a non- conducting metal such as stainless steel which is secured to the outer shell by a seamed and soldered joint 10 and is formed with an inturned flange 11 to support a flange 12 at the mouth of the inner shell. The bottoms of the shells are oppositely dished as at 3, 4, and a cork &c. support 7 is located between rings 5, 6 on the opposed faces of the bottoms. The closure means for the mouth of the vessel comprises a lower non-conducting disc held in place by a dished metal cap 15 secured by a spring crossbar 16, and an upper non-conducting disc 21 mounted in a flanged metal cap secured by a cross bar 22 fastened to the middle of the cap and held closed by a toggle fastening 23. The non-conducting discs may be of surgical rubber or of treated cardboard.
