407,279. Pressure gauges. SHORT & MASON, Ltd., Aneroid Works, Walthamstow, London.-(Taylor Instruments Cos.; Rochester, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 24, 1933, No. 29429. [Class 106 (ii).] A sphygmograph or like pressure-recording instrument comprises two pressure systems of unequal volume separated by a diaphragm which operates the recording device, and means for releasing pressure at the same rate from both systems. The illustrated sphygmograph comprises two rubber bags 1, 2 of the usual type for application to the arm, communicating with opposite sides of a diaphragm 9 which operates the recording pen 11. The bag 1 is connected to reservoir 3 which is fitted with a diaphragm 5 which rotates the chart 8 as the pressure falls. The apparatus is charged with compressed air by means of the hand bulb 21. The rotary valve 12<b> is then turned to the position shown in Fig. 2 and the pressure is released through the adjustable leak 4. The constrictions 16<a>, 17<a> are so proportioned that the pressure falls at the same rate in both systems. Specification 222,161, [Class 106 (ii)], is referred to.
