[Class 40 (v).] The gain of a low-frequency amplifying pentode V1 is regulated by rectifying energy from a secondary winding t2 of the output transformer in a valve V2 and applying a variable portion of the rectified D.C. potential developed across a potentiometer P, to the grid circuit of the valve V1 through a resistancecapacity filter R1-R4, C1-C4, the timeconstant of said filter being not more than one fiftieth of a second.
