406,334. Stockings. PERRY, A., 16, Matham Grove, East Dulwich, London. Aug. 20, 1932, No. 23423. [Class 141.] A stocking provided with a replaceable elastic garter is knitted on one machine throughout the operation to provide a zone in which, on the inside, as shown in Fig. 1, are elongated loops and on the outside is plain knitting, as shown in Fig. 2. A piece of elastic is inserted by a bodkin between the loops and the plain knitting. This zone is formed by putting the dial or ribber needles out of action and leaving only the cylinder needles for about five rounds. The dial or ribber needles are then put into action again and one and one rib continued to the necessary depth for the welt.
