Abstract

643,802. Knitting-machines. WILDMAN MFG. CO. Feb. 29, 1948, No. 6369. Convention date, Sept. 28, 1939. [Class 74 (ii)] To facilitate the transference of the welt from the welt instruments to the needles of a full fashioning machine, the welt instruments are formed with the point of the hook 4 of less width than the adjacent part of the stem 6 so that the point of the hook is shielded to prevent it engaging the loops during transference. The stem 6 may taper from a point T, below the point of the hook, to the bend 7 of the hook or it may be abruptly reduced in width at the point T to the width of the hook. The stem may be provided with an eye 3 to engage the needle during transference.
