Abstract
406,026. Heating water by electricity. CARNEY, H. A., and KIRBY, J., 70 Warwick Square, London. Aug. 18, 1932, No. 23140. [Class 39 (iii).] In a hot-water storage heater, the base plate is reduced in thickness and provided with grooves 18 to increase the thermal resistance between the central part 12 carrying heating elements 13 and the peripheral part 14. The plate may be reinforced by a member under the part 12, spaced from it by insulation and connected by arms spaced from the groove 18 to a ring secured to the rim 14. The reinforcing structure may be integral with the bottom plate. The apertures for water inlet and outlet connections, and for a thermostat, and a drain plug, may be made in the groove 18. The plate may be formed of copper, german silver, or synthetic resin.
