405,870. Pressure-regulating valves. DEUTSCHE GASGLUHLICHT-AUER-GES., 16 Rotherstrasse, Berlin. June 19, 1933, No. 17476. Convention date, June 22, 1932. [Class 135.] A pressure-regulating valve for breathing devices used for high altitudes is automatically controlled by a barometric device and is adapted to receive gas under high pressure and deliver gas under low pressure directly to the consumer. In the form shown in the Fig. the gas inlet conduit a leads to a passage c arranged at right angles to the passage a and terminating in a seat for the valve c<1>. The gas outlet is connected to the nozzle k. The valve c<1> is actuated by a diaphragm d adjustably loaded by a spring g acting through an abutment f and square spindle e. The compression of the spring g is automatically adjusted by a barometric capsule or series of capsules resting against a fixed abutment and containing gas preferably at a pressure of at least one pound absolute when the surroundings are at normal atmospheric pressure.
