Abstract

Sulphuric acid esters of glucosides which are stated to be dispersing agents, are obtained by the action of chlorsulphonic acid upon mono-and di-saccharides and alcohols or their substitution products. As substituted alcohols, chlor and amino derivatives may be used but not carboxylic acids. The formation of the glucoside and its esterification take place simultaneously. A sample comprises a glucoside ester derived from glucose, lauryl alcohol and chlorsulphonic acid.ALSO:Sulphuric acid esters of glucosides which are stated to be wetting, washing, dispersing and foaming agents, are obtained by the action of chlorsulphonic acid upon mono- and di-saccharides and alcohols or their substituted products. As substituted alcohols, chlor and amino derivatives may be used but not carboxylic acids. The formation of the glucoside and its esterification thus take place simultaneously. A sample comprises a glucoside ester derived from glucose, lauryl alcohol and chlorsulphonic acid. The products may be neutralised with alkali, ammonia or organic bases, and to separate the aqueous acid solvents, e.g., butyl alcohol, methylcyclohexanol and pyridine may be added.
