[Class 99 (i).] A joint for tubes a, b such as handrail sections comprises a hollow plug e having slits g which is expanded in the tube section b by a bolt d, the head c of which fits within the plug, the bore of the plug or the bolt head or both being tapered. A nut j secured in the tube a is screwed on to the bolt until the tubes abut.
