Abstract

423,783. Tube couplings. BURTON, J., 49, Sandon Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham. Aug. 11, 1934, No. 23236. [Class 99 (i)] In a coupling for tubular scaffolding of the kind in which the two portions 10, 11 of a longitudinally divided pin are forced apart to grip the interior of the tubes, the portions are hinged together on an axis parallel to their length. The pin has a flange 12 against which the tube ends abut, the flange portions being connected by a hinge pin 15. A bolt 17 pivotally connected to the hinge pin has a nut having a tapered surface 19 engaging corresponding surfaces 20 on the pin sections. Alternatively the bolt head is tapered and the bolt screws into a socket associated with the hinge pin.
