338,856. Scaffolding (Great Britain), Ltd., and Jones, D. Palmer-. Aug. 16, 1929. Rod joints. - A tube joint, particularly for tubular scaffolding, comprises a spigot D on the end of one tube A having longitudinal flutes D<1> and lateral grooves D<3>, D<5>, the grooves D<3> of one flute being in staggered relationship with the grooves D<5> of the other flute. Internal projections E<1> on the tube E engage the flutes and grooves, the grooves being inclined so that relative rotary movement of the tubes causes their ends to abut and provide a flush outside joint. The spigot may be screwed into the tube A, or it may be connected to both tubes by grooves and projections. The projections may be formed by indenting the tube. In a modification the grooves are perpendicular to the flutes, and the projections have inclined surfaces whereby the tubes are drawn together by relative rotary movement.
