Abstract
404,773. Boots &c. HENDERSON & SONS, Ltd., D., and HENDERSON, R. A., 340, St. Saviour's Road East, Leicester. Oct. 18, 1932, No. 29122. [Class 17 (ii).] In machine sewn footwear, the toe portion of the insole 1 is split to form two flaps 3 and 4, between which is enclosed a metal or other plate 2 to serve as a clinching plate for the lasting tacks and as a stiffener in wear. The edges of the plate are clear of the stitches which secure the upper and insole together. The heel end of the insole, as has previously been proposed, may also be split and a clinching plate inserted between the flaps so formed. This plate may be removed after lasting, or may be permanently incorporated in the shoe. Two or more plates may be used, both at the toe and heel.
