Abstract

411,135. Boots &c. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and BATES, A., Union Works, Belgrave Road, Leicester. Dec. 1, 1932, No. 33982. [Class 17 (ii).] A shoe upper is attached, e.g. by its outturned margin, to an out-turned flange on an upstanding rim on the shoe sole and which extends around the forepart portion only of the shoe, as shown in Fig. 5. This upstanding rim may taper in height from a maximum at the toe end rearwardly towards the heel, as shown in Fig. 1. A shoe may comprise an insole 9, Fig. 4, inwardly over which a portion of an upper 1 with its lining 3 may be lasted. The out-turned margin of another portion of the shoe upper, e.g. a vamp portion 5, is secured by stitching 25 to an out-turned flange 21 on an upstanding rim 19 of the sole 17, which rim may extend around the forepart portion only of the shoe. Specification 4058/12, [Class 17 (i)], is referred to.
