[Class 17 (ii).] Connecting uppers to insoles and soles.-Instead of using a piece of rubber as in the parent Specification to hold the lasted upper in shape as the temporary lasting tacks or other securing means are withdrawn, the upper is made so that its lasted marginal edges 3 abut one another, as in Fig. 1, after trimming overlapping parts, or abut against an insertion 7 of a material similar to that of the upper, Fig. 2, and these abutting edges are progressively stitched as the lasting tacks are gradually withdrawn. To avoid bunching of shoe upper material, incisions 5, 6, Fig. 1, may be made in the marginal edges. As in the parent Specification, there is no insole at the forepart of the shoe.
