Abstract

M., 33, Poplar Grove, Brooklands, Cheshire, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Aug. 5, 1932, No. 22034. [Class 57.] Control means for a prime mover 1 comprises a governor 7 driven by a motor 9 which also drives a pump or pumps 5 supplying liquid to the fluid relay 4, 6 actuating the regulating valve 2. The motor 9 may be supplied with power from a generator 10 driven by the prime mover, or by a shaft driven by the prime mover. The speed characteristics of the motor, generator combination may be varied by a rheostat 12 in the generator field or a rheostat in the motor field. The motor 9 may alternatively be supplied from a power line 11 and its speed controlled by the rheostat 14. A switch 13 is provided for this change over. The motor may be of the direct current or alternating current type. The motor-generator combination may be replaced by other variable speed drives either mechanical or hydraulic Specifications 388,089 and 396,544 are referred to.
