Abstract
201,235. Ironside, E. A., and Rose, J. W. April 26, 1922. Transmitting power.-Fluid power transmitting units e for driving the various parts of papermaking machines &c. are supplied from a common source, such as a pump b, through flow and return pipes f, g, and each unit has an automatic speed regulator, which may comprise a pump i driven by the motor e and supplying pressure fluid to a pilot valve l of a fluid relay o controlling a valve h in the pipe f. The speed may be hand adjusted by means of a valve n in a by-pass pipe m to the pipe k, and the valves n of the units may be adjusted relatively and collectively. In the form shown in Fig. 4, one element of a differential gear 8 is driven by a constant speed motor, the other element being driven by the motor e<2> through pulleys 13, 14 and shaft 11. If the speed of the motor e<2> varies, the differential adjusts the valve h<1> controlling the supply of fluid to the motor e<2>. The speed may be varied by adjusting the belt 12 on the pulleys.
