Abstract

404,577. Road - traffic signals on vehicles. PARKES, J. H., 72, West Road, Shoeburyness, Essex. Aug. 17, 1933, No. 22984. [Class 118 (ii).] A manoeuvre indicator comprises a triangular casing, with or without rounded corners, which carries a stop signal indicator, turning indicators and the normal rear light. As illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2, the compartment 6 is illuminated to show a stop signal of the form indicated, the control being preferably connected to the brake pedal, the lamps in compartment 10 illuminate the arrow to give directiona signals and the lamp in compartment 9 is the normal rear lamp, an opening being provided at 17 to illuminate the number plate. When either of the lamps in compartment 10 is lit, almost all the arrow shaft is illuminated giving a relatively long direction arrow. Alternatively the compartment 10 may be divided by a partition 11 and the upper channel member 7 need not be provided, in which case the partition 11 could be carried up to join the partition 5. The translucent parts 14 and 15 of the cover are coloured red and the arrow 16 is coloured yellow. An alternative construction of indicator and casing is illustrated in Figs. 3 and 4.
