Convention dates, Nov. 28, 1931, March 14, 1932, March 15, 1932, March 17, 1932, July 29, 1932, Nov. 28, 1931, and Nov. 28, 1931. [Class 78 (iv).] For transporting railway carriages by road, the wheels of the vehicle are supported either singly or in closely associated sets upon rails mounted upon small independent road trucks, which can be suitably connected together for transport and steering purposes when a vehicle is being carried. The road trucks c may be equipped with means for tipping the vehicle for the discharge of its contents, two constructions being described. In the form shown in Fig. 18, a lever F pivoted on one truck c at G engages beneath the axle of the wheels a<2> supported by the other truck. The latter is provided with a pinion H engaging a rack F<1> formed on the lever F so that, when the two trucks are caused to approach, the lever effects a tilting of the vehicle b about the wheels a<1>. In the other construction, Fig. 23, a telescopic strut K, which may be rendered inoperative when desired, is adapted to be engaged with an adjustable fitting L on the side bar of the underframe of the transported vehicle b.
