Abstract
392,485. Road-vehicle undercarriages. GOTHAER WAGGONFABRIK AKT.-GES., Gotha, Germany. Dec. 30, 1932, Nos. 36936 and 36937. Convention dates, Dec. 30, 1931, and April 7, 1932. Drawings to Specification. [Class 108 (ii).] In a truck, van, or like vehicle, all the wheels are sprung for road travel, and are mounted separately on stub axles and controlled by two mechanisms, one of which is actuated by the draw-bar for normal steering of the vehicle, and the other is adapted to deflect the wheels through 90‹ to facilitate the loading of the truck or van sidewise on to a railway truck &c. The wheels are mounted for swivelling movement in sprung carriers adapted to be raised and lowered by means of screw-and-nut mechanism, so that the body of the truck can be let down to rest directly on the floor of a railway vehicle &c. The raising and lowering devices may be coupled in pairs on each side by a longitudinal actuating-shaft.
