403,724. Taps or cocks. WILSON, N. B., South Essex Waterworks, Langham, near Colchester, and KENT, Ltd., G., 199, High Holborn, London. June 30, 1932, No. 18578. [Class 135.] Valves closing after predetermined interval or flow.-A tap or cock giving only a predetermined maximum discharge for each operation comprises a valve member 8 connected to a plunger 10 open to a smaller operating plunger 14 so that valve opening movement of the said plunger 14 compresses the fluid trapped between the plungers and opens the valve ; thereafter fluid leaks past the plunger 10, independently of the position of the operating plunger 14, and allows the valve 8 to close. When the operating plunger 14 is released the spring 161 will return the plunger, the valve 8 will close by fluid pressure, and a non-return valve 19 will open and allow water to pass freely into the space between the plungers in readiness for the next operation. Air may be used as the fluid for the transmission of movement from the operating plunger.
