402,964. Valve amplifying circuits. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Feb. 27, 1933, No. 5965. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1932. [Class 40 (v).] Relates to push-pull amplifiers in which the valves are active in turns for alternate half-waves and the grid bias is determined by the voltage-drop in a resistance 6, with smoothing-condenser 7, in the plate circuit. In known arrangements of this kind (Fig. 1, not shown) the grid bias ceases to be independent of amplitude if the amplitude is so great that the plate current falls to zero during negative halfwaves (Fig. 2, not shown). According to the invention this is prevented by the use of a device for maintaining a constant voltage across the resistance 6 ; thus, the resistance may be shunted by a glow discharge lamp (Fig. 3, not shown) ; or the grid bias may be tapped off a resistance 10 in series with an iron-hydrogen or like constant-current resistance 10 ; or there may be a common constant-voltage device together with two constant-current devices, one for each valve, (Fig. 5, not shown).
