Abstract

402,943. Knitting-machines. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.- (Nolde & Horst Co. ; 9th Street, Reading, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.) Dec. 23, 1932, No. 36542. [Class 74 (ii).] Relates to a machine of the cylinder and dial type for knitting plain or ribbed fabric. A cam 145 is provided for holding the latches of the dial needles G in closed position to distend the loops therein while the previously inactive cylinder needles F are raised to take the loops. The cam 145 is controlled by levers actuated by a pattern drum. Each loop 205 formed by the dial needles is held by two adjacent dial needles, the dial needles being projected in pairs to replace single cylinder needles. A universal joint 48, 49 is provided in the drive for the dial 46 to allow the dial to be concentric with the cylinder C. The wheel 43 is splined to the shaft 44 so that the dial may be raised clear of the cylinder, and complementary segments 68, 69 with adjusting screws 71 are provided so that the dial can be adjusted angularly with respect to the cylinder. A brush is mounted upon the latch ring for opening dial needles projected into operative position.
