Abstract
402,907. Piston-rings. BARCLAY, CURLE, & CO., Ltd., Clydeholm Yard, and ALEXANDER, J., 739, South Street, both in Whiteinch, Glasgow. Sept. 20, 1932, No. 26112. [Class 122 (i).] An adjustable ring 7, of the kind having an inner split ring 9 supporting adjustment means between its ends is provided at intervals with inwardly projecting downturned flanges 7a for supporting the inner ring. The adjustment means may comprise pins 14, 15, Fig. 4, mounted in the ends of the ring 9 and carrying bolts 12, 13 having different numbers of threads per inch connected by a nut 16. The pin 14 may extend into the flanges of the ring 7 to prevent relative movement of the two rings. Alternatively a wedge 23, Fig. 5, having inclined surfaces 20a, 20b, 21a, 21b, engaging similar surfaces 9b on the ends of the ring may be moved axially by a bolt 22 to expand or contract the ring.
