Abstract
402,336. Filters. LANDI, T., 38, Boulevard Henri IV, Paris. May 2, 1933, No. 12809. [Class 46.] A fitting 2 by means of which a filter can be connected to any size of tap outlet 4 is held on the tap outlet by three screws 5 and is provided with a rubber ring 6 which makes joint with the end of the tap outlet when a hollow boss 7 on the top of the filter casing is screwed into the fitting 2. The filter casing is formed of upper and lower parts 8, 9, screwed together and clamping between them a perforated plate 11 of inoxidizable metal, a metal gauze or grid 12, and a filter disc 13. The filter disc may comprise a ring 18, Fig. 3, of asbestos-carbon with discs 13 of paper on either side and the interior filled with powdered carbon, pumice stone or other porous material, the whole being surrounded by a ring 14 of tin. A modified form of disc shown in Fig. 4, comprises rings 20, 24 of asbestos or asbestos-carbon with a disc 21 of paper and a metal disc 23, preferably of aluminium, and inner discs 22 of activated carbon. The arrangement is said to produce an electric current. Perforated metal discs may be placed between each pair of the discs 22 or the activated carbon discs may be replaced by monazite sand.
