469,087. Filters. MANUFACTURE DE MACHINES AUXILIAIRES POUR L'ELECTRICITE ET L'INDUSTRIE. Jan. 17, 1936, No. 1628. Convention date, Jan. 17, 1935. [Class 46] Liquid which has been heated and mixed with filter aid in a tank 1 surrounded by heat-insulating material 20 is forced by air pressure up a tube 5 and through a filter sheet 12 on which the filter aid is deposited. The sheet 12 and a cylindro-conical partition 4, formed at the upper end of the tube 5, are clamped on a flange 2 of the tank 1 by a cover 7. The under face of the cover is grooved for the collection of the filtrate which is discharged through a pipe 10. The tank is provided with a fitting, Fig. 3, comprising a manometer 15, an inlet valve 16 for compressed air and an air relief valve 17. Electric heating devices 13, 19, controlled by a thermostat 23, may be provided or the tank may be heated externally from below. The pipe 10 may serve as a handle for the cover. The cover may be carried in a bracket so that it can be lifted and swung aside. Fig. 7 shows an arrangement in which the filter element 12 is backed by a perforated plate 7, spaced from the cover 21. With the arrangement shown in Fig. 9, the liquid passes through the pipe 5 to a space above the element 12 and filters downwards. Fig. 10 shows a further arrangement in which elements 12 are supported on both the grooved faces of a plate 30. Specification 430,952 is referred to.
