Abstract
400,223. Weighing-apparatus fitted to cranes. JAMES, R. T., HAUSSER, P. C. G., and AITKEN, R. L., Bush House, Aldwych, London. April 15, 1932, Nos. 10881 and 22533. [Class 143.] In an apparatus for indicating the load on cranes, derricks, shear legs, &c., a pulley or other member stressed by the load is allowed to move against spring pressure in a defined direction, the amount of movement giving an indication of the load. As shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 6, the hoisting cable 40 passes over pulley 43 which is loosely mounted on the sleeve 11. The sleeve is hollow and an axial bolt 13 of the shape indicated passes through the sleeve and is rigidly fixed to the members 14. Rollers 15 allow relative movement between 11 and 13. A pin 16 passes through the sleeve and is fixed to the indicating lever 17, the pin engaging projections 19, 20 on the sleeve 11 and bolt 13 respectively so that when the cable is stressed the sleeve moves in the direction H and rotates the pin 16, the movement being controlled by a spring. The indicating lever 17 moves the pointer 46 over the scale 461 through metal ribbon 44. Constructions with two pins are described, one of which is illustrated in Fig. 4.
