Abstract

399,188. Globe-holders. HAIL WOOD, E. A., Beacon House, Texas Street, Morley, near Leeds. Jan. 19, 1932, No. 1570. [Class 75 (ii).] A globe-holder, which is combined with the suspension means for the light source, e.g. an electric bulb, is provided with movable members A which are mounted on a dish-like member D and are caused to open out by the rotation of a central member B operable by an arm or thumbscrew to hold or release the globe. In the form shown in Fig. 1, arms A are pivoted to the plate B and their ends pass through apertures D<2> in the edges of the dishlike member D. The plate B is rotated by an arm B<1> moving over a rack B<2>. In the form shown in Fig. 3, levers A are pivoted to brackets D<3>, and are moved to the required position by rotation of the screw B<3> so as to move the plate B up or down. In a third form, the movable members are in the form of pins which slide radially in brackets and are pressed by springs against a central conical member carried by a thumb-screw so that the rotation causes the arms to move inwardly or outwardly.
