Abstract

735,210. Lighting fittings. BRUNE, H. June 1, 1953, No. 15273/53. Classes 75 (2) and 75(3). A lighting fitting for supporting shades, reflectors or globes close against a ceiling or wall comprises a base 3 which is adapted to be fixed to the ceiling and to support a lampholder 6 and which is provided with an internal screw-thread 12 for engagement with a screwthread on a shade and with an external screwthread 11 for engagement with an internallythreaded plate 13 carrying an outer shade 1 or for engagement with an outer shade directly. The plate 13 shown in Fig. 2 has at least two projections 15 and the outer shade 1 has at least one aperture 19 in its rim allowing the rim to be passed upwardly over the projections. The shade is then rotated and the rim of the shade is held in contact with a flange on the plate by springs 16 mounted on the projections 15. The shade is locked in position by a further spring 17 which is riveted to the plate and which engages in an aperture 16a in the plate and in one of the apertures 19 of the shade. The lamp-holder 6 projects through an aperture in the base 3 and a flange 9 on the holder is held in abutment with the edge of the aperture by a nut 7 screwed on to the holder. The plate 13 shown in Fig. 7 has two projections 15 which engage in apertures in the shade and two levers 21 are pivoted to the projections. The plate is screwed on to the base 3 by rotating the shade and the levers are rocked by engagement of their inner ends with the base so that their outer ends engage under the edge of the shade.
