Abstract

532,842. Floodlight lamps; cover glass holders. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 21, 1939, No. 26345. Convention date, Sept. 21, 1938. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] A floodlight projector having a conoidal reflector 11 is provided with a cover 30 having an upper semi-circular curved flange 36 and a lower resilient latch 37, adapted both to engage a flanged rim 25 on the reflector. As shown the flange 36 is shaped to engage the back surface of the reflector flange, is attached to a channelshaped split collar 12 surrounding the cover glass rim and provided with a tightening screw 34, latch 37, and gasket 35, and has a handle 38, a chain connecting it to the reflector 11 and outwardly bent extremities 41 to throw off rain water. The reflector, of sheet metal such as aluminium, has a paraboloidal section 11, a spheroidal section 22 and a section 23 which may be spherical, spaced from the latter by a cylindrical section 24, and is at one side welded to or formed integral, such as by extruding the metal, with a spider 26 secured to a lamp socket housing 10 by screws projecting through lugs 27 on the latter. The housing 10 is secured by a lug 15 and bolt 17 to a supporting arm 16 and has a cable channel 18 sealed against the entrance of water by a bushing 20.
