Abstract
398,946. Knitting -machines. READER, W. A., 20¢, Upper Brown Street, Leicester. May 2, 1932, No. 12603. (Class 74 (ii ). ] Pattern mechanism independent of that for the yarnfeeders is provided for controlling and operating the yarntrappers of a circular machine. The invention may be applied to a dial and cylinder rib machine or to a cylinder machine not having a dial, the needle cylinder being either stationary or revolving. The yarn-feeders 1 are selected and actuated by projections 8 upon a drum 6, and the yarntrappers 16 are selected and moved into operative position by projections 13 on a second drum 11. Each trapper 16 comprises a pair of plates pressed resiliently against one another, and having sinker-like projections 19. Pins 22 projecting from a rock shaft 21 engage between the projections 19 to open the plates so that the outgoing yarn is taken between them. Upon further outward movement of the trappers, the projections are freed from the pins 22 and grasp the yarns. Wires 25 mounted upon a block 27 serve to position a withdrawn yarn so that it is readily taken by the needles when the corresponding yarn feeder is moved to operative position. Severing means 30, 32 common to all of the trappers are provided.
