Abstract

398,762. Blasting-detonators. WILLIAMS, J. T. C. and TOWNSEND, R. J., Arcadiß, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. April 10, 1933, No. 10721. Convention date, July 12, 1932. [Class 9 (i).] Relates to electric blasting-detonators in which a safety metal member short-circuits the leads and is adapted to be pulled from a distance to break the short-circuit before the. detonator is fired. According to the invention, the shortcircuiting member 5, as shown in the Figure, is connected by a flexible element 10 to a point 11 of the leads which leaves a slack part 13 in the leads, enabling the short-circuit to be broken by a pull on the ends of the leads. The member 5 may be spot-welded to one lead and softsoldered to the other ; and a flange 6 on the member may have an eye for the attachment of a hook 12 at the end of the flexible element 10.
