Abstract

398,684. Reciprocating-pumps. DAVIS, H. H., 2, Woodstock Gardens, Goodmayes, Essex, and JOHNSON & CO., Ltd., S. H., Carpenter's Road, Stratford, London. Nov. 28, 1932, No. 33603. [Class 102 (i).] In a steam-pump, particularly adapted for feeding a filter press, the discharge stroke is effected by weights, the suction stroke being effected by the steam cylinder. The steam cylinder 21 and the pump cylinder 3 are supported at the upper end of an open frame 2, the lower part of which accommodates a platform 14 carrying weights 15. The platform 14 is suspended, by Tods 13 sliding through brackets 12, from a crosshead 9 on the piston-rod 8. A projection 16 on the cross-head operates the steam-distribution valve by means of tappets 19, 20 on the valve rod.
